As an amateur but avid movie fan, I enjoy watching new films that interest me as much as I do revisiting old flicks with new eyes. In particular, I like going back to the earlier and original films in franchises and seeing how the brand evolves over the years. A driving philosophy I have when experiencing any particular piece of entertainment is that of a two-rubric assessment; I evaluate movies on a scale of both the entertainment value and the overall quality in its medium. Where many bits of entertainment are shlock-y and undeserving of formal recognition as quality craft, they can sometimes still be wildly fun in many ways. Inversely, some films that display excellence and originality in their craft can fall flat for many audiences and may appeal only to a smaller crowd that can appreciate the finer details without any flair. Here, I do my best to recognize and address both with the one simple goal of having an interesting conversation about movies. I hope you enjoy what you find and are compelled to continue the conversation.
